East Anglia 11+ Exam
Overview
​
The Essex region has a number of grammar schools and children wishing to attend these selective schools must sit their 11+ exam. These exams are administered by the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE). Parents must register with the CSSE for their child to sit 11+ examination by the relevant deadline CSSE. Chelmsford County High School for Girls has its own testing process and parents should ensure they register with the school for your child to sit the entrance test by the relevant deadline.
The 11+ exam in South-End-on-sea is also administered by CSSE.
Test Content

An English Paper containing questions on:
​

Comprehension, grammar and vocabulary questions

Two pieces of continuous writing

Applied reasoning (literacy/verbal)
The paper will last 1 hour, with an additional 10 minutes reading time and will be worth 60 marks in total
A Mathematics paper containing questions consistent with KS2 of the National Curriculum on -
Applied reasoning (mathematical/non-verbal)
The paper will last 1 hour and be worth 60 marks in total.
